Job Description: Traveler must meet all minimum requirements below to be consider. Do not submit traveler who have or will have expiring licenses and/or certifications during time frame of entire assignment. Traveler will automatically be declined. Only submit traveler who can work schedule in posting and interested in the unit. Facility has 48 rooms that can be utilized for the Emergency Department, Radiology and Pre/ Post Op patients. Nurses are responsible for prepping patients that are inpatient and outpatient status for surgery. Outpatients will return for Phase II recovery to receive further pain management, recovery from anesthesia and discharge teaching before going home. Nurses may also work in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) which is a 14 bay recovery room. Nurses are responsible for assessing, diagnosing, intervening, evaluating, coordinating, and facilitating care necessary in the immediate post anesthetic period for surgical patients. Minimum Requirements:

  • Facility Requirement:
    • Traveler must have permanent address outside 50 mile radius of MadisonExperience:
      • PACU/Recovery room experience required
      • Pre-op and phase II Post-op RN assistance
        • Traveler must have completed two years of acute care experience within last 3 years.
        • Traveler must have experience in an Academic Level 1 - Trauma center or similar size hospital.
        • Successfully completed traveler assignment (13 weeks).
        • Licensure and Certification:
          • Traveler must have WI nursing license or compact license from their permanent address state.
          • BLS must be certified through American Heart Association ONLY
          • Reference
            • Needs 2 references from recent work environment/assignments (supervisor or manager only).
            • Telemetrymetry
              • Traveler must have Basic Arrhythmia experience. Traveler will be required to pass Telemetry test prior to being cleared to start (not for clinic positions). Recruitment will send instructions to traveler 2-3 weeks prior to start date.
              • Floating
                • Travelers are the first to float to floors working with children up to 1 year of age and/or based on the traveler's competency skills/experience. The Traveler may have shifts scheduled in multiple units, depending on the current staffing needs and/or different locations within the organization. During the travelers assignment, if the primary unit no longer has a need, shifts will be re-assigned to another unit in order to complete contract. Parking: Free Position Urgency: Normal Shifts: 40 hrs/week, Day/Evening, 8/10 hr shifts, . No weekends. On-call is required: during afterhours, there will be weeknight and weekend call requirement. State License Details: Must Be Currently Active Minimum Years of Experience: 2 Minimum Guaranteed Hours: 40 Specialty Type: MUST READ/REVIEW ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION MUST FOLLOW ALL PROTOCOL AND DIRECTIONS FOR OUR FACILITY MUST MEET CREDENTIALING REQUIREMENTS NOTATED ON THE CHECKLIST MUST HAVE ALL COMPLIANCE ITEMS BY THE WEDNSEDAY PRIOR TO THE START DATE LEVEL 1 REQUIRED/NO EXCEPTIONS DUE TO ACUITY HAVE TO READ Telemetry/NO EXCEPTIONS Telemetry TEST REQUIRED FOR ALL RN'S MUST PASS Telemetry TEST IN ORDER TO WORK AN ASSIGNMENT AT UW MUST HAVE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE. IT'S REQUIRED Time off requests need to be mentioned and discussed during the interview If your candidate has a travel partner, it must be notated on their submittals. We do NOT guarantee assignments to one or the other just because they are travel partners You will be taking a 20 strip exam to demonstrate that competency and must get an 80% on the test and correctly identify our 4 lethal rhythms (Asystole, V-Tach, V-fib, and 3rd Degree AV Block) You could also consider utilizing the link below as a review. Please note that it looks like you have to pay a fee, but that is ONLY if you want the contact hours, you can skip paying and do the review for free. It will only take you approximately 2 hours, but will have you prepared for the exam. As a reminder, you are required to pass the exam prior to starting your assignment here. Please make sure to review anything you are not comfortable with prior to coming to UW Health. All agency travelers must demonstrate competency in interpretation of cardiac rhythms before your orientation begins. Previous completion of PALS, ACLS, etc. is not acceptable as a demonstration of this competency. Instead, you will be expected to satisfactorily complete a 20 question test which consists of multiple choice questions and write-in rhythm identification. You must pass with an overall score of 80% and correctly identify 100% of the 4 life-threatening rhythms for your patient population (adult or peds).
