Kapco Inc. is looking for a Weld Engineering Technician at our Grafton, WI location.Primary ResponsibilitiesChampion new weldments throughout the PPAP processReview welding requirements to keep Kapco compliant to our customers welding requirements; this includes welder certification and equipment calibrationDevelop and maintain required AWS documentationSupport the weld department with technical guidance when robotic equipment is down and/or malfunctioningCreate/update internal documents for new weldments; i.e. Assign asset number to new fixtures, assign fixture locations, create NWFR (New Weld Fixture Reports), create setup sheets for manual and robotic weldments, updates CAD files to reflect final weld fixture changes and provides special notes for the Engineering MasterDesign weld fixtures for new weldmentsProcess improvements; reviews weld settings, travel speeds, robotic sequencing, cell layout, sub-component packaging and material handlingMachine, build and fits-up new weld fixturesReview/Evaluate cycle-times; break down every motion within a weldment, updates the estimating group of all discrepanciesTrain new robotic programmers. Support robotic programming as neededOther duties as assignedEducation & Experience RequirementsA technical degree in mechanical engineering or welding is preferredCertified Welding Inspector (CWI) qualified is a plusPrior experience with industrial automation, weld fixture design and/or welding experience preferredAbout Kapco Metal StampingKapco is known for investing in its people and creating a culture of engagement, and is equally as committed to giving back to the community.
