Job Description A day in the life of a Field Service Engineer consists of visiting nearby facilities and collecting data from facility equipment and cranes using advanced handheld data collection tools. After returning to the office, specialized software is used to analyze the data to determine the condition of the tested equipment. The Field Service Engineer writes a formal report based on the outcome of the analysis and provides recommendations to the customer. The following day may be an entirely different tasking, requiring the Field Service Engineer to gather, research and develop information for an ad-hoc report, or conduct a visual inspection of a building and report findings to the customer. The Field Service Engineer will maintain and follow procedural documentation that meets corporate standards.In this job, you will: - Work with a variety of Predictive Maintenance tools such as, Infrared cameras, Airborne/Structure Borne Ultrasound probes, Vibration Data Collectors and Dry Film Thickness gauges and their associated analytical applications.
- Perform professional technical work that requires in-depth knowledge and diversified application of systems engineering principles, theories, concepts, practices and techniques.
- Ensure execution of systems engineering processes across the lifecycle, and report on project status and progress measured against specific plans.
- Work closely with the team to help the government make informed decisions.
- Research emerging trends, techniques, methods, and current best practices in the Condition and Predictive Maintenance (CBM/PdM) and be willing to be on the forefront and cutting edge of this rapidly growing field.
- Perform Systems Requirements Analysis to ensure objectives and requirements are met.
- Prepare and review packages, present data to both internal and external customers, and provide feedback to improve processes and work to meet engineering objectives.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in the engineering disciplines and ensure cost-effectiveness when providing recommendations.Required Education, Experience, & Skills Typical education and years of related/relevant work experience required: High School Diploma/GED and at least 8 years of related/relevant work experience OR an Associate's Degree and at least 6 years of related/relevant work experience OR Bachelor's Degree and at least 4 years of related/relevant work experience OR Master's Degree and at least 2 years of related/relevant work experience.Additional skills/experience required:
- Understand electrical, mechanical systems, building science and maintenance principles
- Cannot be afraid of heights, must use ladders and catwalks
- Must be able to read and interpret operational and maintenance manuals, building plans and technical specifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Routinely interface with the customer
- Develop and cultivate a positive working relationship with the customer and co-workers
- Gather, interpret and execute customer requirements
- Utilize Microsoft applications such as Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint to track data and create reportsPreferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Strategic Weapons Facility experience
- Certification in any of the following areas:
- Coating Inspector Program (AMPP/NACE)
- Airborne/Structure Borne Ultrasound (ISO)
- Infrared Thermography (ISO) - Strongly Desired
- Vibration Analysis (ISO)Subject Matter Expert in any of the following areas:
- Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning and ASHRAE standards
- Industrial Control Systems
- Maintenance Management
- Facility Inspection
- Electrical Systems and NECsUtilized any of the following tools:
