Summary Description:

Performs in process inspections and product audits of manufactured products and component parts; assures implementation of QA procedures and directives in the manufacturing operations; uses statistical process control data to monitor activities to correct trends. Documents discrepancies; conducts process audits of manufacturing operations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Performs on-site inspections and audits of products being processed in the manufacturing areas for compliance to drawings, specifications or other product defining documentation.
  • Participates in the inspection, testing and evaluation of all supplier supplied products and services. Exercises independent judgement to accept or reject product and interprets drawings. Participates in disposition of all purchased materials found to be deficient.
  • Accounts for and contains non-conforming materials in purchased goods and in-process goods inventories.
  • Reviews Statistical Process Control Charts on a daily basis to monitor discrepancies and corrective action effectiveness.
  • Develops product audit checklists to effectively define the required audit activities.
  • Performs process audits of manufacturing operations in accordance with an established checklist.
  • Document discrepancies on Quality Review Forms.
  • Communicate and implement Quality Assurance procedures and directives in the manufacturing areas.
  • May travel to other Red Dot operations to implement, audit and train quality procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    • Provide internal and on-site customer support and problem solving as a work product/services expert. Make recommendations to management regarding solutions.
    • Able to work effectively both individually and in a team with minimal supervision; able to make decisions using own initiative based on company policy and regulating entities. Give regular updates to direct supervisor regarding progress and non-routine occurrences that may disrupt work schedule.
    • Ensure knowledge of the appropriate safety, security and environmental revisions. Handle relevant equipment with care, being concerned with safety and security. Immediately report safety concerns to Supervisor/Lead.
    • Ensure a professional appearance, use professional verbiage and maintain appropriate body language.
    • Ability to manage multiple and varied tasks in a fast-paced, high-volume regulated environment applying strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to analyze issues, troubleshoot, problem-solve and effectively and efficiently make decisions.
    • Strong communication skills with external and internal personnel to include:
      o Active listening skills; ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.

      o Ability to clearly explain technical subjects to internal and external personnel.

      o Strive for clarity and for alleviation of tension when the need arises.

      o Able to be effective in a wide range of cultural groups and cross-cultural relationships and have the ability to communicate clearly to non-native speakers.

      • Able to work in a progressive, fast-paced environment and amongst multiple interruptions and competing demands.
      • Continue own education by staying informed of industry trends and learning new skills when possible.

        Requirements

        Level Requirements (Minimum):

        Education

        * High school diploma or equivalent required.

        Experience

        • Competency in the use of measuring devices such as dimensional inspection tools, calipers, micrometers, and alike.
        • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
        • 1-3 years of experience in fabrication, assembly or other manufacturing operation.
        • Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications and assembly test procedures.
        • Excellent written and oral communications skills. Able to use common office computer applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Access.
        • Familiar with statistical process control techniques used at Red Dot and must be able to successfully complete the Red Dot Auditor certification course.
        • Proven ability in record keeping and file organization.
        • Previous experience in Quality Systems and/or Quality Assurance.
          Physical Requirements:

          The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

          • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and/or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Must have the ability to sit or stand at computer for extended periods of time and be able to be in a warehouse environment.
          • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
          • Sufficient manual dexterity and motor control to use common drafting implements and calculators.
          • This position requires an employee to physically be on site, in a warehouse environment. The warehouse environment entails surrounding that include equipment, machines, tools, vehicles.

              Salary Grade for this role is as follows:

              Min: $24.00/hour

              Mid: $27.00/hour

              Max: $30.00/hour
