The intern will focus on helping to compile and assort meeting materials for the many meetings these two positions facilitate including Formulary Advisory Committee, Enterprise Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee, and the Medication Safety Committee. The intern will also help assist in long-term longitudinal projects such as formulary alignment and clinical workflow harmonization. Additional assignments may include dashboarding, medication use evaluations, and competency development. This intern position is shared by the System Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services as well as the System Director of Medication Safety. The position is PRN but allotted up to 20 hours per week to complete assigned duties. Hours worked will vary depending upon assigned tasks and school workload. This internship is intended to last for duration of pharmacy school and concludes upon becoming a licensed pharmacist.Essential Job FunctionsAssisting the acute care pharmacy team with standardization initiatives to support centralized clinical servicesSupporting long-term longitudinal projects such as formulary alignment and clinical workflow harmonizationCreating training and educational materials for pharmacy technicians, students, interns, and pharmacistsCompiling and assorting meeting materials for various departmental and interdepartmental committeesMaintaining pharmacy dashboards related to antimicrobial use, medication safety, and other tracked initiativesMay perform other duties within the scope of practice as assigned by supervisor.Monitoring drug utilization and mitigating drug shortagesTraining in the inpatient pharmacy to learn the workflow and skillset of acute care pharmacists.Receiving, transferring, or clarifying oral prescriptions with prescribers and/or appropriate staff members asauthorized by state law and under pharmacist supervisionAdministering immunizations [if immunization certified via an accredited immunization program as allowedper state law]Training, educating, and precepting new pharmacy technicians, students, and internsAssisting other staff with medication issues and response to email and phone call concerns or follow-upThis document is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, duties, requirements, or working conditions associated with the job.
