Job Overview:The Early Childhood Development Assistant is responsible for providing supervision for infants, toddlers, and children under the age of 5 in support of their welfare and safety. Parents of engaged children will be active in integrated English language instruction for English language learners and/or receiving resettlement and economic empowerment services from on-site IRC programs. Child-watch activities will take place during regular business hours at the IRC office or other designated venues where parents are also present. Major Responsibilities:Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Provide a safe and supportive environment:
- Care for and actively engage with infants, toddlers, and children participating in the program with parents on-site.
- Deliver age-appropriate activities and lessons.
- Maintain a safe and sanitary physical environment for children, including daily set-up and clean-up activities.
- Oversee and delegate tasks to community volunteers as childcare assistants.
- In emergency situations, engage parents and emergency services as appropriate.
Education: - High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.
- Certification in CPR / First Aid for children or ability to attain certification following hire.Work Experience:
- Prior childcare experience required; professional experience in early childhood education preferred.
- Experience working with immigrants or refugees preferred.Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:
- Fluency in English required; ability to speak a language of the current client population a plus.
- Caring and compassionate attitude when interacting with children.
- Enthusiasm for early childhood education and English language learning with children and their families.
- Understanding of the principles of early childhood development and an ability to adapt to meet the needs of immigrant and refugee families.Working Environment:
