Adjunct Kinesiology Instructor (TEMPORARY) Posting Number: F01093 Location: Contra Costa College Salary: Description of Position: Under the direction of the Senior Dean of Instruction, the Division Dean, or the Department Chair of Kinesiology, the incumbent will teach Kinesiology courses. As a Kinesiology Instructor, will teach assigned courses in Kinesiology theory (lecture) and activity classes. Teaching assignments may include a combination of day, evening, and weekend hours.Duties and Responsibilities: - Demonstrate sensitivity in working with students and staff of diverse racial, ethnic, academic, and socio-economic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and disabilities, showing respect for differences and the dignity of others.
- Adapt teaching methodologies for students with special needs and different learning styles.
- Participate in faculty responsibilities such as course and curriculum development and review, committees, research, and special projects as needed in the discipline, department, or district.
- Attend and participate in department, division, and college meetings and keep posted office hours.
- Maintain and provide current course syllabi as required by the California Education Code.
- Meet record-keeping obligations on time, e.g., grades, census rosters, textbook orders, and requisitions.
- Foster professional work and learning environment.
- Collaborate with other Kinesiology faculty and create a team environment.

Minimum Qualification-Education/Experience: Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff and faculty. Education: Master's degree in kinesiology, physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise or adaptive physical education OR Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND Master's degree in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration or physical therapy OR the equivalent. |
