Located on Tidy Cat Road just 25 miles northeast of Richmond, the 40-acre plant site is built adjacent to a 486-acre clay mine, for efficient and effective mining, processing, packaging, and shipping of raw material and finished product from the same facility.We are a Continuous Operation, with alternative shift options to mass produce both our conventional and clumping cat litter that supplies the mid-Atlantic region with nearly a half of a million tons annually - over one and a half a million tons produced by 2020.For 50 years, brands like Tidy Cats have combined the highest quality ingredients and science to even the most disposable products. The 70 s advanced into microencapsulated deodorant, by the 90 s we were clumping and scooping, and in 2000 we introduced Crystals made from silica gel, and designed to last 30 days between changes. Innovation continues today. In 2013, Purina revolutionized the cat litter category, producing LightWeight litter, which has all the strength, but only half the weight of conventional litter. These and future innovations have created demand that our King William, VA factory is proud to meet.As a Packaging Trainee you safely and efficiently operate packaging equipment. You will monitor and operate equipment, lead troubleshooting and make adjustments to provide optimal equipment performance. Operators ensure the lines are continuously supplied with materials and store, stack, and load finished goods safely. This position will be responsible for reviewing and actively participating in risk assessments.Safely operate, monitor and problem solve throughout the packaging areaSupply packaging materials and maintain sanitation to high standards as issues are identifiedLoad and unload raw/packaging materials and finished goodsMaintain accurate inventory data through proper data entryPerform Preventative Standard Routines to include performance of basic lubrication, repairs, inspection, and identify defects to complete or coordinate repairsEnsure that products meet all quality standards by monitoring production parameters, sampling/testing and responding accordinglyKeeps area clean at all times - Identifies and utilizes down time to clean in, around and under all equipmentAll other duties as assignedRequirementsHigh School Diploma or GED required6+ months of experience in a fast-paced and performance measured environmentThe approximate hourly pay for this position is $23.73. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.
