POSITION SUMMARYDevelops and document programs to control path machining or processing of parts on computer numerical control ("CNC") machines. CNC machines programs intended for lathes, multi-axis spindles and milling machines to cut away material from a solid block of metal.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Write close tolerance programs for CNC machines in the language of the machine's controller.
• Analyze drawings, sketches, blueprints and/or schematics of part to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, machine speeds and feed rates, according to knowledge of machining processes, part specifications and machine capabilities.
• Determine the sequence of machine operations and select the proper cutting tools needed to machine workpieces into desired shapes.
• Determine and document reference points and direction of machine cutting paths.
• Writes program of machine instructions to regulate movement of machine along cutting path.
• Writes instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide setup and operation of machine.
• Revise programs to eliminate errors or omissions and retest programs to check that problems have been resolved.
• Observe machine operation to prove programmed instructions are accurate and/or troubleshoot in-process machining issues that may arise.
• Demonstrates ability to appear for work on time, follow directions from a supervisor, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow work rules and procedures, comply with company policies and procedures, goals and objectives, and accepts constructive feedback.

  • High school diploma or General Education Development (GED).
  • Minimum 5 years Mastercam programming experience or equivalent of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years CNC machining experience preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Knowledge of alloys and metals such as Inconel, titanium, stainless steel.
    • Knowledge of Fanuc, and Mitsubishi controllers.
    • Knowledge of computer aided design (CAD) software.
    • Knowledge of computer and computer systems to program.
    • Ability understand and follow standard operating and safety procedures.
    • Ability to prioritize and handle workflow.
    • Ability to pay attention to detail and thorough in completing tasks.
