Chapman University seeks applications for an Instructional Assistant Professor of School and Clinical Counseling in the Donna Ford Attallah College of Educational Studies, starting August 2024.

Responsibilities
This is a full-time, non-tenure track position that requires work to be performed in the State of California and has in-person teaching responsibilities and required on-campus availability at Chapman's Orange campus. The primary responsibilities of this faculty position include teaching, advising, and mentoring in the graduate School Counseling program. Additional service to the college, university, community and profession of a non-tenure track faculty member is expected.



  • Teach 24 credits annually (August - May), related to School Counseling, School Psychology, and Licensed Professional Clinical Counseling preparation. Current course descriptions are located at:https://catalog.chapman.edu
  • Actively contribute as an integral member of Attallah College faculty in the ongoing development, implementation, and assessment of our academic and degree programs.
  • Perform service to the unit, college, university, profession, and wider community as expected of a tenure-track faculty member.
  • Provide academic advising and professional mentorship to students and alumni, including participation in the recruitment and admission of candidates to the programs.
  • Assist in the design of innovative curriculum, assessments, and the integration of technology in classroom teaching.











    Qualifications



    The successful candidate will teach, advise, and mentor students across the Counseling and School Psychology (CSP) Programs, particularly those in School Counseling and the Licensed Professional Clinical Counseling emphasis. These programs prepare students to effectively serve as school counselors, school psychologists, and clinical counselors in a range of organizations, collaborating with individuals, families, communities, and schools toward an inclusive, equitable, and just world.


    Required Qualifications:



    • Terminal degree (MA/MEd, EdS, PhD) in school counseling, clinical counseling, or related field from an accredited institution is required.
    • CA credential (or equivalent) and 3 years of professional experience in school counseling.
    • CA licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Counselor or Psychologist with a Licensed Professional Clinical Counseling (LPCC) or equivalent license. Graduate of CACREP, APA or equivalently accredited program.
    • Demonstrated ability to supervise school counseling and clinical counseling fieldwork and teach graduate courses directly related to school counseling and clinical counseling.
    • Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in education and must be willing to contribute to the University Diversity and Inclusion plan.
    • Familiarity with the ASCA model.
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills.





      Desired Qualifications:



      • An earned doctorate (Ph.D./Ed.D/Psy.D.) in school counseling or related field from an accredited institution.
      • Ability to build beneficial and productive working relationships.
      • Ability to design and implement program and course assessment tools.
      • Active involvement in professional organizations.
      • Demonstrated commitment to collaboration.
      • Demonstrated knowledge of current California requirements and standards for school counselors and licenses professional clinical counselors.
      • Experience with developing and implementing innovative clinical and school counseling programs.
      • Expertise and facility with technology, including remote instruction.
      • Experience serving and/or teaching in underserved communities.
      • Active engagement in providing professional development to school counselors.
