• Relevant customer service or administrative experience preferred; experience in a healthcare setting preferred.At UCHealth, We Improve LivesThis position is for the Ambulatory Staffing Development program that hires Patient Access Specialists for outpatient departments. You will be hired initially into the Ambulatory Staffing Development program for orientation and training after which time you are transferred to a specific outpatient clinic to become a full-time member of their staff. We are looking for individuals who can provide the highest level of customer service in every interaction; going above and beyond is our standard.The Patient Access Specialist role performs receptionist, registration, and clerical duties associated with registering patient for services. Responsibilities:
  • Meets with patient and/or patient's caregiver to exchange necessary information and documentation. Provides explanation of visit, instructions, and addresses concerns and questions.
  • Communicates with referring provider's office, clinical department(s), and/or other appropriate personnel to exchange necessary information and determine schedule.
  • Verifies insurance benefits and obtains pre-certification/authorization as necessary.
  • Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, or refers to financial counselors for follow up. Ensures that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
