Position Details Location: Houston, TX Compensation: $70K-$85K Shift: M-F 7:30a-4:30p Travel: Some travel may be required Benefits: Robust benefits package Position Description As Purchasing Manager, you will oversee and direct the activities of the purchasing department. Responsibilities will include: --- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiate terms and agreements, and evaluate supplier performance to ensure quality, reliability, and favorable terms. --- Develop and implement procurement strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with business goals and industry best practices. --- Identify, evaluate, and select potential suppliers, source new products or services, and assess market trends to make informed procurement decisions. --- Collaborate with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for equipment, materials, products, and acceptable substitutions. --- Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment. --- Draft, explain, implement instruction, policies/procedures for purchasing/contract management. --- Maintain and/or implement purchasing and recordkeeping systems. --- Act as the company's representative in negotiations with suppliers. --- Coordinate removal or disposal of surplus materials and administer the departmental budget. Position Requirements --- Bachelor's in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred). --- Proven experience as a Purchasing Specialist, Procurement Officer, or in a similar role. --- In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations. --- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. --- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills. --- Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
