He/she will provide services to patients whose ages range from adult to geriatric. Position Responsibilities 1. Prepares individual plates according to portion control standards.2. Properly garnishes plates to assure attractiveness.3. Helps to prepare late trays, as needed.4. Demonstrates knowledge/ability to break down stream table and store leftovers in appropriate containers after properly labeling and dating.5. Always keeps the work area clean and in a sanitary condition.6. Wash hands frequently throughout the day and before preparing food.7. Leaves work area and equipment clean before going off duty.8. Demonstrates ability to assure safe and efficient operation in performing his/her abilities.9. Acquire food supplies from the storeroom, freezer, and refrigerator using appropriate body mechanics.10. Obey safety rules and regulations of the department and report any faulty equipment or unsafe conditions to Director and/or Supervisor.11. Carry out instructions of the Director and/or Supervisor and make necessary changes as directed by management.12. Follows policies and procedures of hospital and department.13. Attends departmental and hospital in services, as indicated.14. Completes special projects or other related work as requested or required.15. Shows ability to work with others, adaptable to change, and willingness to provide services in other areas of the hospital within the limits of skill and training.16. Adapt to changing situations or work assignments.17. Demonstrates willingness to rotate to other areas of hospital within the limits of preparation and skill level.18. Conform to uniform and dress code, personal hygiene, and good grooming.19. Wear and properly display name badge.20. Positively respond to guidance or counseling and attempts to benefit by it.21. Adept in identifying potential problems within the department and seeks management guidance.22. Demonstrates excellent organizational skills and originator of new ideas and methods.23. Use verbal and non-verbal communication with others, i.e., courtesy, tone of voice, facial expressions, gestures, etc. Position Requirements Competencies Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers. Ability to prepare, cook and serve food in quantity. Knowledge of Hospital and Dietary policies and procedures. Ability to work independently with production sheets and recipes. Knowledge of materials and methods used in large-scale food production. Ability to read and write and follow oral and written instructions Education & Work Experience Experience in preparing, cooking, and serving food in large quantities. Previous institution cooking experience and schooling is preferred. A comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the above minimum qualifications Schedule 8-hour shift 5 days a week Includes some holidays Physical & Travel Demands Able to lift 50 lbs. Position requires work in a temperature-controlled environment; 80 -90% of the time spent indoors. Exposure to hot, humid, and noisy conditions, slippery floors, hot equipment, and sharp objects.
