Job Description Diesel Technician will be responsible for a variety of tasks; including diagnostics, service repairs and preventative maintenance associated with maintaining a working fleet that meets DOT requirements. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and proficient in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues, as well as execute the repairs. General Requirements of all Diesel Technician: --- All employees must conduct themselves with behavior that supports the mission, vision, and values of the company. --- All employees are responsible for reviewing and understanding the contents of the employee handbook. --- All employees must behave professionally with colleagues, customers, and prospective customers when representing the company. --- All employees are responsible for making the most of their working time. --- All employees are responsible for creating a safe work environment and demonstrating our commitment to safety to their colleagues and customers. --- Employees are expected to keep company equipment clean and orderly. --- Must understand and adhere to all OSHA standards Primary Duties and Responsibilities of the Diesel Technician: --- Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate repairs --- Collaborate with drivers to troubleshoot faulty equipment --- Use technical knowledge to repair company vehicles properly and cost efficiently --- Perform preventive maintenance inspection (PMI), troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild major components on vehicles and equipment including; engine repair and chassis maintenance --- Work independently on equipment that requires a high level of skill with hydraulics, electrical, and diagnostics --- Proficient in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues --- Estimate time and material costs on repairs and requisitions new parts --- Respond to unscheduled service calls quickly and complete repairs efficiently --- Maintain knowledge on existing equipment, as well as reading and understanding equipment manuals Knowledge and Skill Requirements of Diesel Technician: --- 3+ years of working on diesel trucks --- Mechanical and electrical knowledge --- Welding experience desired, but not required --- Ability to multitask & juggle priorities --- Problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills --- Excellent communication skills --- Strong work ethic with a positive attitude --- Valid driver's license --- Must have own tools In summary, 3+ years experience in automotive and/or heavy equipment repairs for both gasoline and/or diesel engines; pumps; compressors; and other rotating equipment or equivalent combination of education and experience. Considerable knowledge of preventative maintenance and general repair of motor vehicles, heavy equipment and mechanized equipment preferred.
