Position Summary: This position is located within the Advanced Technologies organization at the PACCAR Technical Center with a focus on structural analysis for durability, stiffness, and strength. Responsibilities include working directly with Kenworth and Peterbilt engineering teams to analyze engineering designs, to predict designs viability and to provide recommendations. The person will also engage with internal teams in collaborative projects and provide guidance as a technical expert. Job Functions / Responsibilities

• Analyze components, assemblies, sub-assemblies, and full vehicle using FEA tools (such as ABAQUS, LSDYNA), Fatigue life calculations tools (such as n-code, FE-safe), and validate the models with test correlations
• Manage projects by accepting requests, creating plans, and executing per department procedures, including writing reports
• Work cooperatively with project requestors to create durable components and assemblies
• Work with other Technical Center departments to gather appropriate data required for projects
• Develop and refine department analysis procedures and processes through method development and capability enhancements.Required Qualifications & Skills
  • 3+ years of experience with Implicit (static and dynamic analysis) and explicit analysis
  • Working knowledge of pre- and post-processors (Hypermesh, ANSA), FEA software (ABAQUS, LSDYNA), and fatigue life calculators (n-code, FE-safe)
  • Solid understanding of fatigue theory
  • Project management skills
  • Excellent documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated for challenges and innovationPreferred Qualifications & Skills
    • Interest or experience with multi-body dynamics and vehicle dynamics
    • Interest or experience with explicit analysis such as crash or drop
    • Scripting experience - Python preferred
