As an OR Nurse, you will have the opportunity to deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures. The Operating Room provides an exciting opportunity for RN's who are flexible, energetic, and love to work as a team. Unlock the possibilities in your nursing career by joining a team that cares like family. -The Registered Nurse delivers professional nursing care to patients in the Surgical Services environment with emphasis on open heart, thoracic and vascular procedures. Follows the Board of Nursing's (BON) Standards of Nursing Practice utilizing the nursing process in care delivery. Maintains accountability for professional decisions and actions within the parameters of their legal scope of practice and in accordance with the federal, state, and local laws; rules and regulations; and policies, procedures and guidelines of Medical City Healthcare (MCH).As part of our Division Float Pool West POD team, you will be lending your knowledge and experience to OR departments within Medical City hospitals. -You are required to be able to work at each of the following facilities for a 12 - week assignment, depending on facility needs. Those facilities are: MC Arlington, MC Alliance, MC Fort Worth, MC Las Colinas, MC North Hills, MC Decatur, and MC Weatherford. - What You Will Do In This Role
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic OR and pre-surgical area environment
- Implement and direct care, using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of individual OR patients
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the nursing process
- Provide emotional support of the patient and significant others to make informed choices regarding health care
- Delegate tasks to the appropriate caregiver
- Maintain high quality (age specific) care for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients as assigned
- Provides pre and post-surgical care of patients ranging from adolescent to geriatrics who will have (or have had) general anesthesia, epidural/spinal anesthesia and IV sedation
- Monitors all patients for airway and pain management
- Proficient in interpretation of EKG changes, lab values and hemodynamic monitoring
- Provides care to patients receiving high-risk intravenous therapies and blood components -
- Performs direct patient care in the peri-operative patient with duties related in developing a surgical plan of care throughout the continuum
- Document nursing care in compliance with policies procedures and practices established by the Nursing Department and the hospitals.
- Resolves patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies. - What Qualifications You Will Need:
