*Job Title:*Medical Technologist II / MLT *SIGN ON BONUS (FT) Evenings - Johnson City, TN*Job Code:*MSHA000BCS*Location:*JOHNSON CITY MEDICAL CENTER, Johnson City, TN*Position Type:*Full-time (scheduled 72 hrs or more per pay period)*Job Definition**Job Description**SCOPE OF POSITION*The Medical Technologist II is responsible for the independent performance of moderate and highly complex testing to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. The Technologist is required to demonstrate practical knowledge and theoretical understanding of procedures in the clinical areas and critical thinking skills. This individual will have a comprehensive understanding of the scientific principles used in diagnostic testing in order to recognize deviations in expected results, analyze technical problems and make necessary corrections to achieve quality results. The Technologist will be able to operate and maintain variety of complex scientific equipment is a requirement of this job. The Technologist will troubleshoot and repair selected instrumentation. The ability to recognize quality control deviations and communicate problems to management, pathologists, as well as other staff members; and assist with problem resolutions are also requirements. The Technologist may be asked to assume charge responsibilities that include workflow monitoring, and serving as the first line response for medical personnel with regards to problem solving and resolution. The scope of care may involve direct patient contact procedures such as phlebotomy, pediatric sweat chloride testing, and/or assistance with bone marrow collections on child, and adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Other procedures may include therapeutic phlebotomies on adult and geriatric patients.The Technologist will be responsible for supporting a self-directed laboratory team concept is demonstrated by having a positive attitude, willing to give and accept constructive criticism, maintaining a high quality work standard and willing to accept other duties as assigned. This position may be required to provide didactic and clinical technique instructional training and competency assessments to new team members and students.*REPORTING RELATIONSHIP*See Table of Organization.*EDUCATION EXPERIENCE*Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biology or biological science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, orSuccessful completion of an official military medical laboratory procedures course and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician); orMeet CLIA Standard; Testing personnel qualification 42CFR493.1423 for moderate complexity testing and 42CFR493.1489 for high complexity testing.Johnson City Medical Center Technologists performing Clinical Trial testing must meet the State of New York Department of Health Part 58-1 of 10 NYCRR Clinical Laboratories Standards 58-1.5, duties and qualification of clinical laboratory technical personnel.Certification by the ASCP, AMT, AABB, or other organization deemed comparable is not required but preferred.High School Diploma or equivalent.A State of Tennessee License is not required.*Compensation**Location and Work Requirements**Work Schedule:*3 PM to 11 PM*Shift:*Evening*On Call:*No*Weekends:*Rotating Weekends*Travel Required:*No TravelJob Type: Full-timeby Jobble More...
