The Technician will perform laboratory testing in a quality and timely manner. This individual will draw blood from patients finger, ear lobe, artery, or vein, observing principles of asepsis to obtain blood samples. The Technician will perform quality control according to each laboratory department protocol. Additionally, the Technician will orient new laboratory employees, reporting progress to the assistant laboratory director. The Technician will collect, process, and store laboratory specimens as appropriate. The Technician will perform instrument maintenance as required on their specific shift, as well as provide appropriate patient education.*REPORTING RELATIONSHIP*See Table of Organization.*EDUCATION EXPERIENCE*Associate's degree required, Bachelor's preferred. Must meet the CLIA 88 Testing Personnel Interpretative Guidelines. One year experience in an accredited laboratory training facility.A Medical Laboratory Technician performing testing in the State of Tennessee must hold a current Tennessee licensure per the State of Tennessee General Laboratory Board rules and regulations 1200-6-1-.03.
