The Registered Nurse in the OB Department provides direct and indirect patient care. -He/She applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. -The Registered Nurse must possess good communication skills and must be able to effectively communicate with physicians, peers, patients and families. -He/She works collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team to ensure quality care is delivered. - The Registered Nurse working in the OB department will care for various types of patients including but not limited to antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn, GYN surgery patients.Reports to: OB DirectorMinimum Education Must possess an active TN RN license or a compact state license with the intent to obtain a TN RN license within 30 days of hire.Required Skills BLS/CPR certification required within first 30 days in position AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Course at time of hire or obtain certification within 8 months of hire. S.T.A.B.L.E. preferred ACLS preferredEssential Functions -Providing nursing care appropriate to the condition and needs of the patient.Consulting and collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide care to the patients.Establishing, reviewing, revising, and following the patient plan of careAdministering medications and treatments within the scope of practice for a Registered NurseRecording patient care activities including assessment, reassessment, and ongoing treatment notes within the patients' medical record.Using a variety of computer systemsOperating medical equipment used in the care of the patient.
