With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.

Please note this position requires a master's degree and evidence of one year of clinical experience providing direct patient care. This can include internship, practicum, previous work experience, where one has worked with patients.

This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Waccamaw Center for Mental Health, 164 Waccamaw Medical Park Drive, Conway, SC 29526.

As a Mental Health Professional I, working under direct supervision will serve as Access/Crisis Team clinician providing screenings, assessments, crisis intervention, community crisis intervention, individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, completion of judicial and emergency forms for probate court with individuals and other approved services to clients of the Conway office for Waccamaw Center for Mental Health.

Provide therapy, emergency services and case management services to persons experiencing emotional disturbances, to include assessments, crisis intervention, individual, group and family therapy, patient and family education and case management. Provide services at the clinic or in the community as a need arises.

Complete and submit clinical service notes within a 24-hour period in accordance with the local collaborative documentation standards.

Maintains documentation of charts and other records in accordance with State, Federal, Local, SCDMH, WCMH, Quality Assurance, Corporate Compliance and CARF Standards.

Act as contact for referral sources by providing information about the services offered by the Center, including criteria for admission and types of treatment programs available.

Provide a variety of coordination and consultation services with the school, community agencies, local hospitals, probate court (judicial and emergency forms) and DMH staff to assist clients in maximizing recovery efforts.

Knowledge of the scope and range of service provided in a comprehensive community mental health program serving adults and children and understanding the unique treatment needs of this population.

Capacity to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, families, and representatives of their other professional disciplines, and co-workers.

Ability to communicate effectively with clients, their families and co-workers.

Employee shall be self-directed and motivated, functioning independently and exercising good clinical judgement.

Employee will maintain documentation of charts and other records in accordance with State, Federal, Local, South Carolina Department Mental Health, Waccamaw Center of Mental Health, Quality Assurance, Corporate Compliance and CARF standards.

Supervision will be provided according to WCMH's current Supervision Policy.

Annual Employee Performance Management System is used in this position and all for SCDMH.

Employee will serve as a team member in the Access/Crisis Team in Horry County.

Job requires sitting, standing, bending and walking.

Performs other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Assistant Clinic Director and Clinic Director.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

STATE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: A master's degree in guidance, counseling, or the social sciences. Must be able to meet DMH credentialing requirements.

DMH Credentialing Requirements include graduate coursework including the following:

Psychopathology Course

Psychopathology Diagnostic Course

Clinical Assessment - Practice with Family Therapy (DSM) - or any related assessment course

Ethics Course - related to medical profession.

Note: If any Agency Requirements are listed above, applicants must also meet those requirements to be considered for the position.
Preferred Qualifications

PREFERRED: Experience working with adults and children in a community mental health setting.

Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
