Continental Tire plant in Sumter, South Carolina, is a 2 million sq. ft. tire manufacturing facility of Continental Tire the Americas, LLC on 500 acres of land, which produces high-quality, premium lines of passenger and light truck tires for original equipment and replacement markets. Having a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility with a growing team of around 1,300 employees, the Sumter Plant is IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 14001 certified and a zero-landfill facility. Our Sumter location is seeking an IT Technician to join our organizatinon.

Staff member dedicated onsite technical resource to work with Client Support team to deploy and maintain Continental's standard client computing environment. The ideal candidate has strong customer service and problem-solving skills related to supporting desktops, laptops, mobile devices, applications and other IT services. Responsibilities will include local and remote support of customer base answering questions from customers and providing problem resolution in a timely and effective manner. The IT Technician will also be responsible for supporting production activities as they pertain to IT and MES (manufacturing execution systems).



  • Work includes supporting day-to-day IT operations, responding to support requests and technical issues via teams, e-mail, phone and other electronic medium such as the Continental Incident Management System.


  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to client systems, applications, peripherals and remote connectivity.


  • Maintain client environment to Continental standards, utilizing management tools like LANDesk, HPAM, AD, SOTI, and BMC


  • Desktop / Laptop / Mobile device break/fix with vendor support


  • Refresh Desktop / Laptop / Mobile devices per refresh schedule


  • Assist the Infrastructure and Applications team on managing:


  • Server Applications and Servers


  • Network Infrastructure LAN/WAN/WLAN


  • Data Center Servers and Storage


  • Associates Degree (IT related) at least 3 years IT-professional helpdesk experience Or HS Diploma/GED and at least 5+ years IT professional helpdesk experience


  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and other productivity software


  • Strong knowledge in Microsoft Windows Clients XP, 7, 10, 11


  • Strong knowledge in Mobile devices IOS, Android, CE


  • Proficient in data communication / internet related protocols and applications such as VPN, Wireless including Cellular, LAN/WAN, Cisco VPN Client, and Outlook


  • Good Problem-Solving skills and strong Customer Service


  • Good communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 25lbs


  • Ability to stoop, twist, bend, kneel, walk for up to 8 hours
