_ Providing for more than just the physical needs of our patients _ The Gardens at Stevens is seeking a personable Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to assist the Director of Nursing with the management and training of the nursing services staff and the overall management of resident care. Join us and grow your skills as part of our caring and compassionate multidisciplinary healthcare team that is focused on enriching the lives of our patients every day. _ JOB KNOWLEDGE AND ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES: _ Demonstrates knowledge of developmental factors specific to adult and geriatric residents (i.e. physical, cognitive, and socialization factors) in planning the delivery of care. Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and techniques necessary to care for residents with the following needs: therapeutic, neuro and dementia, dialysis, IV therapy, infectious disease, and wound care, if applicable. Acts appropriately under the direction of the DON and acts as an active member of the interdisciplinary team. Demonstrates ability to adjust to changes in unit/shift assignments to meet resident and facility needs. Ensures the residents receive skilled nursing and rehabilitation services._ Qualifications: _ Must possess, as a minimum, a degree in Nursing from an accredited school. Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state the facility is located Baccalaureate degree preferred. Working knowledge of the needs of the aging and chronically ill requiring long term care, the principles of management, supervision, organizational behavior and structure, and communication systems. A physical examination and/or evidence from a physician indicating freedom of communicable disease to be available upon employment. Must be in good physical and mental health. Ability to work independently or part of a group. Effectively communicate with others._ Experience _ Must have, as a minimum, 2 years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other related health care facility. Previous long-term care experience is desirable. Computer knowledge preferred._ Physical and Sensory Requirements _(With or without the aid of mechanical devices) Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday. Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with resident personnel, and support agencies.
