JobsFirst Overview JobsFirst is a workforce program in Tulsa, offering professional development, soft skills, education, training, and employment assistance to the unemployed/underemployed in the River West & Comanche Neighborhoods. Our goal is to break the cycle of poverty by empowering both individuals and their families with economic prosperity through the usage of a two-generation approach. Make an Impact with Our Team We're looking for career coach professionals with exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills who will guide and support customers as they explore new careers, enroll and complete training, and gain employment to build a brighter future for themselves and their families. This position involves working with a team of professionals from the Tulsa Housing Authority and Urban Strategies, Inc. to assist families under the Choice Neighborhoods Implementation (CNI) Grant from the U.S. Department of Human Development. Our goal is to revitalize these communities by providing support to the residents and their families through JobsFirst. We know the work we do is both highly challenging and profoundly rewarding. We hold ourselves to the highest standard because we know the importance of our work for the community. - The Primary Responsibilities of the JobsFirst Career Coach Include: Career Coaching - Meet with potential customers for all programs to learn about their employment history, educational background, and career goals to identify suitability for the multiple programs
- Advise customers individually and in small groups in career development techniques, such as job search and application strategies, resume writing, and interview skills
- Evaluate customers' abilities, interests, and individual strengths using assessments, interviews, or professional sources
- Conduct goal-setting meetings with customers and maintain consistent communication to track progress toward their employment, advancement, and/or education and training goals
- Assess needs and assist customers in overcoming obstacles by making appropriate referrals, including scheduling problems, childcare, transportation, family crises, and other life situations
- Enroll customers in educational programs based on interests, aptitudes, or assessments
- Promote career and employment-related programs and events, such as job fairs and career workshops
- Understand diverse cultures and backgrounds to provide inclusive support to communities within the Choice Neighborhoods
- Conduct off-site housing visits, office visits, and community site visits to gather information from residents Driving Results as a Team
- Meet the program's goals for customers completing training programs, job placement, promotion, and job retention -
- Record daily activity in Salesforce and report weekly progression toward program goals
- Complete customer-facing and internal tasks on time utilizing the organization's project management system
- Work closely with Program Coordinators to meet program goals, strategically solve problems, and provide backup support to the Program Coordinators
- Work collaboratively with the Business Services Team to determine the types of jobs that match the skills and qualifications of training graduates
- Participate in ride-a-longs with USI caseworkers as needed Requirements:
- 1-2 years of previous mentoring, coaching, or relatable experience -
- Minimum of 2 years successfully working in an office environment
- Ability to work a flexible schedule with occasional evening and weekend work required
- Personal transportation that can be used throughout the workday
- Comfortable conducting presentations in front of small groups or one-on-one setting Qualifications:
