Join our exceptional team and help us continue to provide the highest quality of health care possible to our communities.Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of PositionThe ultrasound technologist performs ultrasound procedures and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by, and at the request of, a licensed independent practitioner. Will perform direct patient care in a compassionate and timely manner. Under the direction of Radiology leadership, the Ultrasound tech performs duties directly involved with a variety of technical procedures in the use of ultrasound for the diagnosis of disease or pathology.Essential Job Functions:Demonstrates knowledge of direct patient care by evaluating the patient, verifying patient ID, and related information to assure appropriate procedure is performedExplains procedure to patient; prepares patient for procedure by obtaining and recording patient history and consent form (if applicable)Ensures patient comfort, privacy, and safety during procedure; monitors condition of patient and medical equipment that may be disturbed due to the nature of exam and report changes to patient care servicesDocuments sonographer's impressions and relays findings to physicianObtains and records images necessary to demonstrate normal and pathological findings; documents all pertinent information, e.g., lab values, patient histories; demonstrates and maintains clinical competency particularly related to patients who are: newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric as deemed necessary by designated facilityParticipates in performance improvement projectsAssists department in achieving successful results in all federal and state and local agency audits.Participates in the education/instruction of students and the orientation of new staff. -high level disinfection probes per joint commission standards.Must use various ultrasound modalities dependent on the type of anatomy being examined.Must become proficient in recognizing cross-sectional anatomy and understanding of related technology.Demonstrates favorable guest relations and continues to promote values of the hospital in daily work performance.May also perform other related patient care dutiesLicensing/CertificationCredentialed in Ultrasound technology by one of the following: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or Sonographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (required)BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care) (required)Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in Abdomen, Obstetrics/Gynecology (preferred)EducationAssociates, America Medical Association (AMA) allied health training program in Ultrasound (preferred)Work Experience1 year experience as an Ultrasound Tech (preferred)TrainingEPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred)Picture archiving communication system (PACS) (preferred)SkillsReads and interprets written/oral instructionsmeets deadlinesprioritizes workworks independentlyIdentifies and understands issues and problems.Examines datadraws logical conclusionscritical thinking and understandingoral or written communications.Makes decisions which have significant impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside immediate work unit.Organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology.flexible and able to adapt to change.ethical relationships and practices required of a technologistcreate and maintain a good working relationshipsreceive constructive feedbackSDMS Code of Ethics and Scope of Practice for Diagnostic Ultrasound ProfessionalsCustomer ServiceWorking ConditionsPeriods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occurMay be exposed to physical altercations and verbal abuseMay be required to use physical restraintsMay be exposed to high noise levels and bright lightsMay be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluidsMay be exposed to human blood and other potentially infectious materialsMay have periods of constant interruptionsGeneral office environmentRequired to car travel to off-site locations, occasionally in adverse weather conditionsProlonged periods of working alonePhysical RequirementsLifting/Carrying (0-50 lbs.) 34-66%Push/Pull (0-50 lbs.) 1-33%Push/Pull (50-100 lbs.) 1-33%Bending 67-100%Sitting 67-100%Walking 67-100%Standing 67-100%Many of our opportunities reward* your hard work with:Comprehensive, affordable medical, dental and vision plansPrescription drug coverageFlexible spending accountsLife insurance w/AD&DEmployer contributions to retirement savings plan when eligiblePaid time offEducational AssistanceAnd much more*Benefits offerings vary according to employment statusAll applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, genetic information, or protected veteran status, and will not be discriminated against on the basis of disability.
