Marine Transportation Schedulers work closely with internal organizations such as CPVC, GFCV and Refining to satisfy their needs for commodity movements, acquisitions, and sales. Applicants must have a professional attitude, strong work ethic, commitment to Company policies and procedures, a drive to achieve service excellence, and exhibit sound decision making. This position belongs to a family of jobs with increasing responsibility, competency and skill level. Actual position title and pay grade will be based on the selected candidate's experience and qualifications. KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Work with marine colleagues and internal organizations to determine marine equipment needed to satisfy supply requirements, both short term and long term.
- Secure short term and/or long term marine equipment via charter contracts with 3rd party vendors as necessary to satisfy supply requirements.
- Establish marine related movement schedules to satisfy demand requirements for internal customer commodity groups (i.e., crude oil, light products, renewables, asphalt, heavy oils, and specialty chemicals).
- Effectively communicate boat / barge orders to Operations, Accounting, internal customers and external vendors to execute the logistical supply plan.
- Work with 3rd party vendors and Marine Operations to resolve any logistics issue and facilitate the successful execution of the logistics supply plan.
- Utilize the spot equipment market on a move-by-move basis as needed to fill supply/demand gaps with chartered equipment.
- Work with marine colleagues to optimize boat and barge utilization.
- Identify areas of improvement that minimize idle time of equipment.
- Work with internal and external customers to identify backhaul opportunities throughout the river system.
- Assist with identifying and executing opportunities to service marine needs of external customers.
- Ensure market-based freight rates are up to date in Tow-Works for accurate cost reporting to internal customers.
- Work closely with the Marine Vetting group to ensure all equipment used is properly vetted to comply with company requirements.
- Understand and communicate as needed, freight rate information to internal customers to support their decision-making process.
- Review invoices for accuracy and adherence to contractual requirements.
- Lead and/or assist in developing equipment plans for abnormal events such as lock closures, hurricanes, extreme river conditions, and refinery turn around activity.The above responsibilities notwithstanding, the final scope of the role will be determined by the experience level of the candidate selected.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
