SUMMARY Provides automotive repairs related to preparing and painting vehicles while working within manufacturer and industry-established quality and time standards. Complies with manufacturer and dealer safety and environmental programs and practices. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Essential duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned. - Repairs vehicles per estimate and according to manufacturer standards.
- Transports vehicle into the paint booth.
- Prepares vehicles for body repair work by wiping down vehicles with appropriate cleaners.
- Color matches vehicle, include spray out card on every job.
- Applies paint and clear to vehicle.
- Bakes vehicle per specifications.
- Uncover the vehicle and inspect the quality of paintwork and color match
- Notifies management of any additional repairs needed.
- Notify management of any difficulties or problems that may prevent a quality job from being performed and cause a change in the promised time.
- Removes vehicle from the booth and notifies production managers that vehicle is ready for inspection.
- Move the vehicle in Profitnet to its appropriate location.
- Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicles when other painter duties are not being performed.
- Maintains tools and equipment in a proper state of repair.
- Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, as recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
- Complies with all laws and regulations of paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to management.
- Operates all tools and equipment safely.
- Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
- Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events
- Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals
- Performs any other duties as directed by Manager/Supervisor. Qualifications
JOB REQUIREMENTS - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to use basic mathematical skills to solve simple equations for mixing chemicals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to use a computer for reference and training/testing. EDUCATION
Education, training, and/or state/national certifications should clearly demonstrate the possession of the knowledge and skills stated above. - High School degree or equivalent required
- Valid Drivers license that meets dealership insurability requirements
- ICAR or ASE certifications in auto body repair, painting, and estimating are a plus
- Certificate from Vocational School in Collision a plus EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a collision repair technician
- Tools required to perform repairs PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
