Directs the day to day operations of Blood Bank, Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Phlebotomy/ Central Processing, Point of Care, or LIS under the general direction of the Department Manager2. Ensure compliance with all JCAHO/ CAP standards3. Identify and resolve QC or equipment issues4. Establishes/ writes policies and procedures5. Monitors all quality indicators as outlined in the Laboratory Quality Plan6. Develop staffing schedules and adjust staffing as necessary7. Knowledge of current medical terminology to perform full range of laboratory testing as well as communicate effectively with medical staff.8. Ability to work with patients of all ages: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.9. Maintains a working knowledge of laboratory computer systems.Minimum Education * High school diploma or equivalent is Required * Two years of college is Required * Associate's degree is Required * Bachelor's degree is Preferred - -Required Skills/Certifications Registration as a MT (or equivalent in specialty area i.e. chemistry, hematology, microbiology, blood bank, etc.) by ASCP, NCA, AMT or other recognized agency; and at least 4 years of experience as a medical technologist are required.Equal opportunity and affirmative action employers and are looking for diversity in candidates for employment: Minority/Female/Disabled/Protected Veteran More...
