We are committed to furthering anti-racism, equity, and racial justice in all our efforts, and expect all of our stakeholders to participate in this work so that we can create a future without limits for our students, together.Job DescriptionPOSITION OVERVIEWThe High School Guidance Counselor supports the school's operations with a primary focus on student enrollment, preparation of transcripts, and maintenance of student files.DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES - Works closely with the High School Leadership team (including the Principal, Director of Operations (DOO), Director of Post Secondary Opportunities, and Assistant Principal of Instruction) to oversee our student information systems with a focus on functions related to school records, databases, scheduling, grade books, credits, graduation plans, report cards, and transcripts.
- Ensures data systems pertaining to student information records are accurately updated with new information kept confidential, secure, and up to date by regularly reviewing data verification reports.
- Exhibits the highest level of customer service, professionalism, and confidentiality to our students, families, and School Leadership team.
- Oversees the enrollment process for new students, gathering all required information while coordinating class schedules and resolving scheduling conflicts.
- Directs the rostering and scheduling work for KIPP CAP, focusing on aligning course scheduling at the high school with state graduation requirements.
- Performs clerical tasks such as printing academic transcripts for students, assist when needed in the routine office and/or clerical tasks to support activities of the school secretary, bookkeeper, receptionist, principal, or other administrators as needed.
- Analyzes teacher performance and student achievement data (both formative and summative) to identify gaps in instructional design and make necessary adjustments
- Trains School Leaders, Teachers, Office Managers, and other school staff to use SIS functions efficiently and reporting tools that relate to grade books & grading, credits, graduation plans, report cards, and transcripts.
- Observes, interviews, establishes periodic meetings, and/or builds relationships with key constituent groups (leaders, teachers, operations staff, parents, and students) to understand their experience, gather feedback, and prioritize enhancements to systems function, reports, and training.KIPP Capital Region
- Performs other duties outlined by the Principal and Director of Operations.

- Pass a Criminal Background CheckEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University with a concentration in statistics, curriculum, educational administration, educational leadership, or other related field is required.
- At least two (2) years of professional experience in a data and/or application support (or similar) role.
- Proficient in creating formulas, and pivot tables to manipulate, compile and analyze data is required.
- A successful track record of overseeing data collection, validation, and reporting.
- Prior experience consulting, coaching, and/or planning and implementing professional development for staff.
- Familiarity utilizing a broad range of student information systems (e.g., PowerSchool), academic assessment tools, and data housing (e.g., IReady, Illuminate) and survey platforms and remote learning systems (e.g., Google Classroom, curriculum platforms).
- Preferred experience working directly with students.
- Prior experience working in schools (charter, private, or public school environment) and urban communities is preferred but not required.Additional InformationWORK PERKS
