DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY: Directs and provides professional nursing care for an assigned group of patients across the age continuum, while complying with the New Mexico Nurse Practice Act.The registered nurse in the Pre-Anesthesia Surgical Screening office is part of a team that works to complete a comprehensive assessment of the surgical patient's medical, surgical and anesthesia history, ensuring all medical issues have been addressed and/or optimized prior to scheduled surgery.RequirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION: Graduate of an NLN accredited school of professional nursingCERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license.BLS Certification required or within 2 weeks of hire date..SKILLS:Ability to relate and work effectively with othersDemonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standardsWillingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for own professional advancementIs aware of professional nursing standards and performs in accordance with themEXPERIENCE: Previous pre-anesthesia assessment or surgical intake experience preferred.NATURE OF SUPERVISION:-Responsible to: CSV Chief Nursing Officer, PASS Medical Director and Operations Manager of Anesthesia/PASSENVIRONMENT:-OfficePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sitting for long periods.
