Job Description Essential Job functions: - Responsible for the preparation of the patient. Applies suitable electrodes on predetermined measured positions on the patient's head and checks their performance
- Calibrates and adjusts EEG apparatus. Obtains the patient's cooperation for the best performance of these procedures.
- Selects predetermined electrode combinations as well as special combinations made necessary by the case under study. Obtains standard recordings, recognizes artifacts and takes appropriate steps to eliminate them.
- Describes all abnormal clinical manifestations observed during the test.
- Uses activating procedures such as hyperventilation, photic stimulation, and sleep during testing.
- When indicated by the circumstances of the EEG recording, monitors on the same apparatus, other variables such as electromyograms, electrocardiograms, electro-oculograms, respiration, etc.
- Extracts relevant information from the patient's clinical record and obtains additional information by questioning.
- Keeps equipment in a clean operating condition, detects instrument malfunctions and makes minor maintenance adjustments or reports equipment needing major repairs.
- Files and/or microfilms recordings.
- Fills and forwards charge slips for billing purposes as required.
- Assists in instruction of technologist-trainees General Job functions:
- May perform work in the laboratory, at the patient's bedside and in intensive care units.
- Continues education by participating in conferences and technical meetings.
- Establish good rapport with patients, public and staff capacity to deal with severely ill patients.
