Job Description:

• The environmental test technician performs MIL-STD-810 environmental tests in the environmental lab.
• The technician should be experienced and capable of operating thermal chambers, temperature shock chambers, humidity chambers, altitude chambers, solar radiation chambers, salt fog chambers, vibration shakers, and immersion test equipment in the environmental lab.
• The technician must be capable of performing tests in accordance with work instructions, test procedures and standards.
• The technician must be capable of working independently.
• The technician must be capable of recording and reporting test results and statuses.
• The technician must be capable of working with computerized test software and manufacturing execution systems.
  Essential Functions:
  • Test products for production, conformance, qualification, and evaluation
  • Support multiple simultaneous product tests
  • Setup and operate environmental, vibration, and electronic test equipment
  • Setup and perform immersion, chemical, salt fog, and solar radiation testing
  • Independently evaluate products tested
  • Record and compile environmental test data
  • Ensure calibration is current on equipment when used
  • Work closely with engineering on new products, test fixtures and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Perform equipment troubleshooting when necessary
    Qualifications:
    • Requires High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience OR 2 years Post-Secondary/Associate Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
    • Candidate must be experienced and capable of operating thermal chambers, temperature shock chambers, humidity chambers, altitude chambers, solar radiation chambers, salt fog chambers, vibration shakers, and immersion test equipment used to perform environmental tests.
    • Candidate must be able to multi-task, perform basic electrical troubleshooting, and operate equipment while observing safety precautions.
    • Candidate must be able to work closely with team members, as well as work independently.
    • Candidate must be able to work overtime, when necessary, with short notice; Weekend overtime coverage may also be required.
      Preferred Additional Skills:
      • Experience in electronics and test equipment operation is beneficial.
