Job Category Underwriting Compensation Overview The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards. Salary Range $120,100.00 - $198,100.00 Target Openings 1 What Is the Opportunity? Works closely with Assistant Vice President, BI Underwriting Standards & Practices, and other Underwriting leaders to influence and execute underwriting standards and controls. Partners across multiple business units for underwriting and/or compliance quality assurance-related opportunities. Responsible for evaluating, synthesizing, and communicating underwriting execution insights across the organization. Drives and communicates sound control strategies and underwriting standards in support of strong underwriting quality, overall profitability, growth, and retention of business while enhancing underwriting experience. Leverages analytical intelligence to improve underwriting execution. Oversees the management, development, and execution of the underwriting controls and standards function for Business Insurance. Prior experience with Loss Sensitive Underwriting or Product is required. This position can be 100% remote. What Will You Do? -
Manage and participate in the development and execution of the underwriting controls and standards function for Business Insurance. -
Design and deliver underwriting standards, practices, and tools in alignment with individual transactional underwriting environment for loss sensitive programs, supporting both portfolio and individual risk underwriting practices, including controls, and collaboration standards. -
Oversee core quality assurance controls; ensure minimum standards are adhered to and conducted in an objective, independent, consistent, risk-based manner. -
Collaborate with management, Underwriting Officers, and account executives to ensure consistency in underwriting quality and execution. Develop productive working relationships with business partners and foster an environment of trust and mutual respect. -
Assess the execution of underwriting controls and standards, identify trends, determine the potential impact of any insufficient execution, and recommend corrective actions to the business. -
Utilize data and analytics to glean actionable insights. Prepare reports in accordance with minimum standards and communicate results to business partners. Design effective Corrective Action Plans and monitor the execution and closure. -
Work with business unit Chief Underwriting Officers to ensure that the business' home office and field authority is property structured, communicated, and managed in accordance with Enterprise and BI underwriting standards and requirements. -
Lead and participate in projects to continuously improve quality assurance processes, technology, monitoring, analysis, and communication of results. -
Future opportunity to formally lead a quality review team. -
Perform other duties as assigned. What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have? -
2+ years directly managing others; prior leadership experience either by leading teams or directly managing others. -
Extensive experience in commercial property casualty product and/or underwriting. -
Intermediate experience in Loss Sensitive products and services -
Intermediate strategic thinking skills and demonstrates a continuous improvement mindset. -
Intermediate leadership, collaboration, influencing and change management communication skills. -
Intermediate organizational, analytics, critical thinking, interpersonal, time management, verbal, and written communication skills. -
Knowledge of risk assessment, technology, and auditing principles. -
Underwriting and/or Product experience in Technology and/or Public Sectors Services. -
CPCU, AU, CIA, or other industry designation a plus. What is a Must Have? - 6 years of compliance, underwriting, claim, product or relevant underwriting quality assurance experience required.
