JOB OVERVIEW: Works with The Food Bank to develop nutrition-based outreach and programs. Provides nutritional education to The Food Bank and partner agencies following best practices. Design innovative new techniques and outreach opportunities for the new Food Bank Market. Creates and distributes recipes utilizing common foods acquired by The Food Bank. Stays informed about best practices in the field of nutrition. ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY: The Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri is a regional disaster and hunger-relief network that brings together community resources to share tens of millions of pounds of food with neighbors each year. Our highly collaborative team believes that empowerment, education, and partnerships are key to getting food into the hands of those who need it most. With the help of 145 partner agencies, nearly 200 school partners, and more than ten thousand volunteers, our day-to-day efforts help feed nearly 100,000 neighbors each month across our 32-county area. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Assists with the development and implementation of nutrition policies for The Food Bank. Assists with setting benchmarks, targets, and goals for incrementally improving the nutritional profile of the food distributed
- Implements Market 2 Meal programming (ie, demonstrations, food samples, and recipes) for The Food Bank's partner agencies and The Food Bank Market
- Manages The Market's teaching kitchen and implements programming, training, and community education
- Identifies, learns, and implements cooking education curricula through interested partner agencies and with key stakeholders
- Provides education on the impact of nutrition on health outcomes to participants, partners, and communities within the service region
- Partners with the food sourcing team and operations to identify and implement opportunities to enhance the nutritional profile of the food acquired and distributed
- Identifies and implements nutrition education opportunities in existing and future programs (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, food pantries, mobiles, etc.)
- Works with communications team to contribute nutrition education, social determinants of health, and health equity content to Food Bank's agency newsletter, social media, and other outlets
- Creates nutrition education content for distribution
