The University of Missouri School of MedicineDivision of Hospital Medicine The School of Medicine is pleased to announce the Department of Medicine's Hospitalist Division is seeking nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants with 2+ years of experience in inpatient or post-acute care settings to join their patient-centered care team. Duties include but are not limited to: - Independently provide professional medical support services on the Medicine inpatient floors by collaborating with physicians and hospital staff to promote team-based patient care.
- Conduct comprehensive health assessments and demonstrate a high level of autonomy and expert skill in the diagnosis and treatment of actual and potential health problems.
- Orders/performs diagnostic procedures; monitors patient condition, lab values, and results of diagnostic procedures; and develops treatment goals.
- Collaborates with supervising physicians in difficult or complicated cases and as agreed upon in collaborative agreement.
- Act as a resource for patients, families, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals in areas of expertise.
- Obtain and document a complete and focused history and physical and be able to relate other aspects of medical information to the surgeons and physicians.
- Assists in the identification of trends related to patients and participates in quality improvement activities.
- Help guide the development and implementation of structure, process, and outcomes standards.
- Other duties as assigned.PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT SPECIALTY CARE - Qualifications
- Master's degree required.
- Required Licensure or Certification:
- Graduation from an American Medical Association (AMA) accredited physician assistant program.
- May possess a specialty certificate by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Nephrology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Pediatrics or Psychiatry.
