We have an opportunity for an Expert Process Engineer to join the Technical Safety Team at our headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri. This team is responsible for understanding, interpreting, communicating, and helping apply safety codes and best practices for industrial food production factories. As a Safety Expert Engineer, you will be responsible for interpreting the technical safety requirements for all industrial systems in operation at our facilities. You will be responsible for adhering to new methods and developments affecting the industry for the purpose of recommending changes in emphasis in programs, or new programs warranted by such developments. This position will be responsible for providing technical guidance on safety related to building and site safety, construction safety, machinery safety, process safety, engineering food safety, combustible dust and flammable gas/liquids and more areas found in our manufacturing environment. We have factories spread throughout North America and this position will require travel. -Primary Responsibilities Provide safety engineering technical assistance to operating facilities which includes planning and implementing investigation and analysis in problem areas or identify opportunities for improvement. Provide safety engineering support to divisional improvement efforts including systems analysis, scope development, and evaluation of alternate technologies and methods.Identifying opportunities for improvement and providing pragmatic guidance on solutions as well as working with factory staff, corporate legal counsel, corporate engineering, and senior management. Serve as subject matter expert in industrial process safety and technical interpretation and application of safety standards such as OSHA, NFPA, and International Building Code. Manage a digital database that enables standardization, compliance and document management capabilities designed to efficiently sustain critical safety programs. Assist in the development and modification of department technical guidelines, standards, and specifications in the area of safety. -Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field and 5+ years' experience in an engineering or technical safety role within a manufacturing, industrial, military or related environment -OR - |
