The Specimen Operations Team of One is looking for laboratory assistants. As a laboratory assistant you will be a member of a diverse, -agile team responsible for -biological specimen receipt, identification verification, processing and storage. In addition, you will -perform a variety of clerical, processing, and other laboratory duties that include maintaining supply inventory, filing, stocking, receiving shipments, and cleaning. You will actively partner with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting others with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. This position is located at the Superior Drive Support Center where immediate parking is available. *Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Additional Qualifications

• Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology/Mayo Collaborative Services (DLMP/MCS) employees that have been in their current lab/position for less than 2 years must attach an early release approval from their supervisor. -
  
• Internal applicants must attach their 3 most recent performance appraisals.
  
• Knowledge of laboratory functions and medical -terminology preferred.
  
• Science -background preferred.
  
• 1-2 years medical experience preferred.
  
• Ability to stay organized, prioritize, and shift gears in a busy environment.
  
• Conscientious of details and strict safety requirements for handling chemicals, reagents, and infectious agents.
  
• Ability to work independently and as a contributing team member.
  
• Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  
• Experienced with -computers, keyboarding, and telephone operations.
