Our goal is to discover ways to therapeutically target aging, which will extend health span. Primary responsibilities:Specific technical/bench-work research (60%):- Supports scientists in the laboratory and conduct investigations and experiments in an assigned area to aid in the solution of a research problem - Perform routine genetic and molecular studies involving basic biomedical research assays. - Tissue culture work, processing of tissues and samples; qPCR - Conduct background literature research on relevant topics including current methods and reagents - Use of major research instrumentation for readout indices to determine functional outcomes - Analyze data collected from experiments and work with research team members to prepare data in an easily readable format of graphs, charts, tables and reports of data - Keep detailed records of all experiments and procedures in laboratory notebooks, databases, spreadsheets, and web-based applications. General laboratory management duties (30%):- Prepare media, enzymes, and solutions under sterile conditions in large quantities. - Work under the Lab Manager to manage day to day laboratory operations by coordinating shipping and receiving, ordering supplies, inventory updates and general laboratory organization - Follow established biological, chemical and physical safety procedures and train new personnel Other duties as assigned (10%):- Help monitor and train undergraduate student workers. - Requires the ability to work occasional weekend hours Qualifications All required qualifications must be included in the application materials Required Qualifications: - BA/BS or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years
- Handling rodents/small animals exp in research
- Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills; comfort in working in a team
- Experience in genotyping and tissue culture work
