As the Crew Lead, you will directly supervise and coordinate activities of the our Heavy Highway - Heavy Civil crews, and supporting the team by engaging in the work as needed. Crew Lead Opportunities are available within various divisions: - Aggregates
- Asphalt - Paving
- Grading
- and Underground
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Coordinate project needs and communicate to the crew members what activities are to be accomplished.
- Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Bring problems to the attention of the Asphalt Operations Manager and Safety Manager as needed.
- Coordinate, direct and lead workers engaged in the construction activities.
- Supervise crews to obtain top quality workmanship, efficiency, employee satisfaction, morale, communication, commitment, teamwork and pride.
- Review and verify employee time sheets for accuracy before submitting to the timekeepers/Payroll.
- Analyze and resolve worker issues. If the problems are around harassment, work with Human Resources to develop a plan of action.
- Communicate with maintenance staff about maintenance needs on all major pieces of equipment on assigned jobs.
- Relate to the public and to customers in a professional, courteous and respectful manner.
- Follow daily Crew Lead procedures and protocols as set forth in orientations and training's.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Knowledge of materials, methods and the tools involved in utility construction.
- An ability to mentor, train and manage employees.
- Strong coordination, time management, active listening and reasoning skills required.
- Strong ability to problem solve quickly and as needed.
- Strong communication skills and an ability to work with variety of people and positions.
- A minimum of 3 - 5 years of related skill, knowledge and experience in heavy civil operations construction. Experience in asphalt/paving is preferred.
- Must be able to read, understand and apply information obtained from blueprints, surveys and job specifications.
- An unwavering focus on safety.
- Willingness to travel throughout Central and Western Minnesota, Northern Iowa and Eastern Dakotas.
