Bring your energy to DTE.Together, we can achieve great things.Job SummaryLocation: Detroit, MIThis is a full-time position with DTE Vantage, the non-regulated subsidiary of DTE Energy. The home office location is DTE Energy Headquarters in Detroit, MI (400 WCB).The position is responsible for managing technical aspects of project development from inception through initiation of construction with continued supporting role through start up and close out. Power industry experience is a plus, particularly in the areas of engines, turbines, and gas and/or electrical interconnects. Work involves performing difficult and complex services requiring a high level of independent judgment, initiative, and discretion. Work is mainly self-directed, with work results reviewed through the achievement of set goals and adherence to policies and procedures. Must live within a commutable distance from DTE's Detroit, MI headquarters, however, the majority of work will be done remotely.Key Accountabilities - Screen projects from a technical perspective to determine viability
- Ensure that employee and contractor safety as well as environmental awareness are incorporated within principal design goals
- Prepare and review Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) specifications and drawings
- Prepare formal RFP packages and manage competitive bidding processes, including evaluation of proposals and selection of contractors and vendors
- Develop cost estimates and expenditure forecasts
- Review, manage and organize project documentation including technical specifications, calculations, and drawings to ensure protection of owner's technical and financial position
- Prepare performance test procedures and evaluate performance test results
- Coordinate contractors, consultants, engineers, vendors, and government agencies to complete projects within schedule and budget
- Coordinating activities of contractors, consultants, and vendors in support of assigned projects or in support of a project manager.
- Performing technical due diligence activities in support of acquisition efforts
- Travel within the domestic United States; expected to be about 10% to 30%, depending on the stage of project implementation
- Perform all other related duties as assignedMinimum Education & Experience Requirements
- A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Engineering or Construction Management with 5 or more years of experience as a project engineer, project manager or construction manager.
Other QualificationsPreferred: - Mechanical Engineer degree preferred
- Registered Engineer or Project Management Professional a plus
- Working knowledge of MS computer applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project in a Windows environment
- Capable of performing basic conceptual facility design with an eye toward minimizing capital cost while still providing a safe and effective operating facility
- Capable of providing and managing functional engineering support to projects from start to finishOther Requirements:
