Scope of Role: Support Gast engineering team by executing all 3D modeling needs spanning from new product development to updates and changes to existing 3D models and engineering documentation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: - Designs and/or modifies 3D models and assemblies using SOLIDWORKS 3D modeling software.
- Prepares supporting documentation including tolerance stack-ups, design calculations, detail sheets, modified prints and engineering standards per engineer's requests. Supports print /design reviews. Utilize Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) to support design and engineering print creation.
- Provides training and consultation to engineering, procurement and quality teams as required.
- Utilize oral and written communication skills to manage various projects at once.
- Maintains, coordinates and processes routine engineering change documentation and perform other miscellaneous duties as required.
MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE: - Timely execution of engineering change documentation
- Timely execution of existing component and assembly re-draws
- Completeness and correctness of prints submitted internally and to Gast vendors.
- Correct use of GD&T as well as design intent and manufacturing standards.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS OR EQUIVALENCIES: - Associates Degree in Design or a technically related field and least four (4) years product design experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of Geometric Design and Tolerances (GD&T)
- Demonstrated ability to apply proper detailing requirements to engineering prints and perform accurate tolerance stack-up calculations
- Fluency in SOLIDWORKS with strong component and assembly modeling
- FEA, CFD, and additional simulation experience required
