The Department of Psychology at Bethel College (North Newton, Kansas) invites applications for a full time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Psychology, to begin August 2024. The successful candidate should provide evidence of excellence in teaching, as well as a commitment to mentoring undergraduate research in a liberal arts setting. Bethel College is a four-year, private, primarily residential liberal arts college, affiliated with but independent from Mennonite Church USA, with a vibrant faculty of teacher-scholars, a talented staff, and intellectually curious students eager to make a difference in the world.

Essential Functions

Teaching responsibilities may include a range of psychology courses (e.g., introductory psychology, developmental, clinical and counseling, neuroscience) including courses in the faculty member's areas of expertise. Additional teaching responsibilities may include courses related to data science (e.g., data visualization, human-computer interaction). One significant advantage of a small liberal arts environment is that we are capable of shaping our curriculum, and the successful candidate will be invited to collaborate as an active partner with current faculty. Most upper-level Psychology courses involve a lab component, and applicants should speak to their ability and willingness to teach experimental methods and statistics (preferably using R and Rstudio software). The Psychology program at Bethel College is strongly grounded in science and data-driven psychotherapeutic approaches.

Secondary Functions

Non-teaching duties will include student recruitment visits, retention, assessment, academic advising, and participation in committee work. In addition, faculty members are regularly engaged in the College's Employment Experiences program through supervising and mentoring students who are fulfilling the requirements of this program within their departments, primarily through exceptional and sustained opportunities for student participation in research.

Education and/or Experience

Ph.D. in hand is preferred, but ABD will be considered
