Core Responsibilities Production employees at Smithfield handle materials and use hand tools, knives, machinery, and equipment to help deliver good food responsibly to America's dinner table. Production team members at Smithfield perform physically demanding work that requires good hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, strength and stamina.
Team members must be available to work scheduled hours, which may include mandatory overtime, depending upon production demands. Your OpportunityThis position performs a variety of duties,
such as assigning, scheduling, and organizing production crews; conducts training as needed.
Identifies and develops, independently or in coordination with management, issues and methods for problem solving; receives general direction from cookhouse Supervisor; oversees all production functions. This position will actively be tasked with directing cookhouse operators work. The crew lead will be expected to be proficient in SAP. This position will serve as the cookhouse supervisor backup. Core Responsibilities Responsible for scheduling and cooking of product to ensure required specifications are met.
Direct cookhouse operators to ensure daily schedules and duties are completed.
Serve as cookhouse supervisor backup with support.
Follow and maintain required cook/chill applications.
Complete required HACCP record and training.
Program cookhouses and ovens according to schedule.
Maintain continuous flow of produced product.
Monitor computer process and notify supervisor of any discrepancies and/or problems as they arise.
Loading and unloading racks from cookhouses, ovens, and freezers.
Job duties are not limited to Cookhouse only.
May be required to perform general labor job responsibilities as needed.
Must be able to rotate between shifts.
Will train in all areas of Cookhouse.
Other duties as assigned.

High School or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Must complete all courses in necessary training schedule within 90 days of assuming position; during that time employee may perform duties under supervision of trained operator.
Must complete all necessary training including Orientation, GMP and HACCP training.
Must complete Orientation prior to first day of assignment
Must complete Employee Awareness
Safety PPE Requirements: Proper Attire, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Steel Toe Shoes
Must complete Hearing Conservation, Hazard Risk Analysis, Fire Safety, Machine Guarding, Emergency Preparedness, Bloodborne Pathogens, Electrical Safety, Confined Space, Ladder/Knife Safety and Fall Protection training
Must be P.I.T. Trained
Must complete initial safety procedures
Must complete Ergonomics and L.O.T.O./Machine Specific training
Must have knowledge of Excel, SAP, and other computer programs
Must have the ability to work with co-workers proactively and in a team environment.
Must have no more than a verbal warning for absenteeism. Acquiring a 2nd attendance slip may cause disqualification from position.
Must have no current discipline for violation of company policy. While in position, discipline for violation of company policy may cause disqualification from position.
Must work with Cookhouse Supervisor to schedule vacation, cannot schedule vacation on same days.
