Learn more about us at https://www.corporate.carrier.com/ ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking an experienced technology systems technical leader to lead the architecture, systems design, and development of energy management systems (EMS) in Carrier's Residential and Light Commercial (RLCA) HVAC Systems for Americas region, aligned to the vision and electrification roadmap. This role will be responsible for concept creation and implementation of EMS as disruptive technology into viable new product introduction. The candidate will have to partner and work closely across functions - with relevant business leaders, product management, sales, manufacturing, innovation teams, chief architects, engineering CoEs, digital engineering and systems teams to align requirements, resources and technical trade-offs as necessary to deliver customer backed solutions to market on time, within budget and specification. Key Role Responsibilities As the Associate Director-HVAC Energy Management Systems, you will be responsible for driving the technology vision, roadmap and architecture for HVAC electrification and implementing energy management systems in Carrier's Residential and Light Commercial HVAC Systems for the Americas region. You will collaborate with architects, system engineers, fellows and engineering project leaders to deliver solutions that meet business needs. This systems platform technology leadership role is responsible for conceptualization, development, and integration of home energy management systems solutions for Americas Residential and Light Commercial HVAC Systems. This role needs critical technology skills, systems thinking, HVAC application knowledge, people skills and ability to collaborate and influence outcomes working across the world and functions to drive accelerated energy solutions delivery for RLCA. The role will also provide program leadership working across various stakeholders. - Technology Leadership: Build and implement systems concepts for EMS systems, understand interfaces, trade-offs within sub-systems and components and create a scalable, cost-efficient producible solution for North America EMS for residential and light commercial.
- Strategy: Owns development, implementation, and execution of short- and long-term strategy, creating roadmaps aligned to business needs and platforming initiatives around EMS. Align with business needs, demonstrate financial and business acumen as technology roadmaps are created, maintained, and updated.
- Business/Systems Leadership: Ability to collaborate with customers for POCs, product management, aligning xEMS requirements, doing requirements-value tradeoffs with commercial teams, helping shape product roadmap and ability to align various global stakeholders for product strategy, product creation and delivery.
- Execution: Systems leadership, program management experience, ability to take from requirements to concept to product solution delivery on-time, within budgets, meeting KPIs, providing direct and in-direct leadership working cross-functionally and ensuring the team (direct and in-direct) delivers a xEMS solutions, which can be, but not limited to POC, Pilot, Full product launch
- Leadership, Presentation & Communication Skills : Need to be able to influence at various levels of organization, including senior leadership and communicate effectively with clarity communicate complex issues to sr. leadership, technical and non-technical audience, able to shape and guide discussions to drive focus and execution clarity. Ability to implement effective operating cadence, performance measurements and report periodically. Strong presentation skills, globally inclusive with ability to work across geographies and cultures, shape and deliver outcomes.
- Financial Ownership : Own NPD R&D budgets, project and program level estimation and financial ownership for xEMS investments in RLCA segment and delivery to commitments against plan
- Execution Excellence : Own and maintain strong say-do ratio, with bias towards exceeding expectations while delivering on commitments short and long term.
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in E lectrical or Mechanical Engineering
- 12+ years of experience in developing and delivery NPDs, experience leading systems engineering, new product development, and program execution, with effective communication, presentation, and influencing skills
- 2+ years experience/knowledge of IoT, controls, connectivity, and energy management systems is needed
- 2+ years experience/knowledge of energy management systems in residential/light commercial heating and cooling space for residential applications needed. Understanding of HVAC systems and sub-components required, including, but not limited to compressors, invertors, battery systems, BMS, power electronics, controls and connectivity knowledge and ability to integrate them into viable systems
- 5+ years of proven track record of building trusted relationships cross functionally, business management across product lines. Experience in managing various stakeholder relationships to get consensus onsolutions/initiatives and ability to make decisions with conviction
- 5+ years experience in solving complex problems using and finding alternate paths to achieve objectives in a highly constrained environment
