- Serves as the initial contact of the Maurer School of Law Office of Admissions and the law school generally, directing public inquiries to relevant departments.
- Maintains current knowledge about the IU Maurer application and enrollment process as well as national trends and key components of law school admissions to properly counsel prospective students and the public.
- Develops, coordinates, executes, and works to improve law school admission events and presentation materials for the Office of Admissions.
- Establishes travel itineraries for all in-person visitors.
- Gives tours of the law school to prospective students as needed.
- Updates and maintains accurate information in the law school admission database.
- Works with the law school Business Office to process travel and hospitality reimbursements for admitted student visits.
- Assists with mass mailings related to an aggressive outreach and admission/yield operation. Distributes office mail.
- Assists the admissions staff in coordinating the logistics and planning for major Maurer School of Law admission events, such as information sessions and admitted students events.
- Coordinates the workflow of the Office of Admissions updates, revisions, and development of printed admitted student yield and matriculation information materials.
- Serves as backup for the admissions staff by attending law school recruitment events when the need arises.
- Reviews law school applications for completeness, contacts applicants for any missing information or to resolve discrepancies, and obtains any necessary information from other sources and determines eligibility for review.
- Assists the admissions staff by taking on tasks of increasing complexity, such as performing benchmarking research at other law school admission offices or designing routine surveys to gauge applicant satisfaction and program effectiveness.
- Updates the admissions office pages on the Maurer website and uploads documents on OnBase.General Responsibilities
- Oversees the processing and evaluation of all applications for admissions into that school and accompanying material, such as transcripts, to determine eligibility.
- Maintains records and databases of applications; updates and purges as necessary; gathers and collates information from records and prepares reports.
- Reviews applications for completeness, contacts applicants for any missing information or to resolve discrepancies, and obtains any necessary information from other sources.
- Schedules and oversees any applicant interviews.
- Makes recommendations regarding admissions and financial aid decisions; contacts applicant regarding the decision on the admission application.
- Responds to phone and email inquiries on admissions process and status of applications; may assist in the design of recruiting events and materials.
- Counsels potential students regarding courses and grades required for admission.
- May supervise temporary staff in the admissions office; monitors and evaluates job performance.
- Maintains files and databases on students admitted into the school; generates reports based on this information.
- May take on escalated and complex issues; may provide guidance to other admissions staff.QualificationsEDUCATIONRequired
