This position is responsible for implementing the Alzheimer's Association's program delivery and growth strategy to reach more people with volunteer-delivered programs, especially in new, underrepresented and rural communities. The Manager is responsible for identifying, recruiting, engaging and growing volunteers and community partners while meeting Association best practices to achieve growth goals and benchmarks. Based in Fort Wayne or Merrillville, this position requires frequent travel throughout the assigned territory in Northern Indiana. Responsibilities Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Community Programs (50%) - Develop & implement a data-informed, community impact plan to expand reach in each assigned market of opportunity defined by a strategic geography or population.
- Guided by the Community Development Model, increase reach of Alzheimer's Association Common Programs with special emphasis on increasing participation among communities that have typically had low rates of engagement
- Conduct ongoing community assessments through Community Forums in each market to ensure that volunteer-led programs are aligned with community needs and offered where demand is high.
- Build and expand the impact of Alzheimer's Association Community Educators, Alzheimer's Association Community Representatives, Support Group Facilitators and other Community Volunteers
- Recruit, engage, train and manage relationships with community volunteers to expand the Alzheimer's Association's visibility and programmatic reach within assigned area
- Conduct Mission Conversations with community volunteers
- Create urgency for our cause by promoting a full-mission value proposition to support Alzheimer's Association campaigns such as quality care, fundraising and advocacy efforts throughout designated communities.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of program, community impact and volunteer performance data as well as grant-funded projects (where applicable).
- Represent the chapter as needed at community events and networking groups
Community Partnerships (50%) - Manage and maintain a portfolio of high-impact community partners using a relationship sales approach to grow the Association's program reach. Expand collaborative agreements with current partners in community networks, organizations, service providers, nonprofits and faith institutions, and establish new community partnerships beyond traditional partners to reach underrepresented communities.
- Build referral partnerships with social service agencies, service providers and congregations to identify prospective volunteers
- Analyze service data to identify gaps in delivery and create opportunities for increased volunteer engagement
- Support the implementation of the chapter's health systems strategy by serving as a member of the account management team in an effort to engage health systems as needed.
- Model and foster behaviors that contribute to a culture that values the staff/volunteer/ community partnership and is consistent with the Association's goals, best practices, and core values.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Human Services, Gerontology, Nursing, Public Health, or volunteer management
- 2 years of experience in managing volunteers
- 2 years of experience managing program implementation
- 1-2 years of experience in community outreach, community mobilization or organizational capacity building projects/initiatives
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% within the assigned territory by car. Travel in this case, is considered time spent away from the office, in the community, to fulfill the job goals.
- While most such travel is same day, occasional overnight travel or air travel may be required. Must have a valid driver's license, access to reliable transportation, good driving record and proof of automobile insurance.
- Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as required for the job
- Strong computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office products, Google suite and; experience with, or ability to rapidly learn the Personify CRM database and volunteer management system
