Facility EHS Manager
Summary The EHS Manager is a critical member of the Newly Weds Foods facility leadership team reporting to the Facility Manager with a strong dotted line to the Global Director of EHS.
Essential Functions
Leads by example by living the Newly Weds Foods' company values.
Acts as a trusted advisor and mentor across the facility.
Leverages both experience and an innovative approach to EHS activities.
Partners with the Corporate EHS Team and peers at NWF facilities to improve the organization.
Anticipates potential workplace hazards, evaluates strategies for corrective action, assists in the implementation of controls and tracks the completion of related projects that affect EHS at the facility level.
Analyzes reports, metrics and other relevant data to assist in the development of projects and improvement plans focused on reducing EHS risk at the facility.
Coordinates response, investigation and corrective actions relate to EHS incidents.
Manages environmental permits and coordinates the completion of applicable environmental activities to meet the local, state and federal requirements related to land, water, air, waste, etc.
Manages, revises and trains facility management on the SPCC, SWPPP and other relevant environmental programs.
Coordinates Sustainability initiatives focus on best practices and customer requirements.
Partners with the Facility HR and Leadership on the management of workers compensation related reports, investigations, documentation, data and costs.
Develops and maintains databases relevant to the EHS activities of the facility.
Interprets regulations, industry best practices, academic papers and other relevant information.
Ensures compliance with applicable EHS regulations through the education of the facility leadership, day-to-day EHS activities, programs, policies and self-assessment audits.
Participates in corporate, customer and government related EHS audits.
Maintains accurate records and data in accordance with company, customer and local guidelines.
Provides training on policies, regulations and procedures, as needed or directed.
Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental, Engineering or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of facility EHS leadership preferred.
Knowledge of USDA, BRC, FDA and HACCP preferred.
CSP, CIH, CSHM, CHMM or other related certification a plus.
Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required.
Strong computer abilities, such as, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint and cloud based EHS or ESG systems preferred.
Ability to travel occasionally for audits, conferences or other work activities.
Work Location will be on-site in Broadview, IL plant.
Work Environment
Ability to work in food environments with allergens.
Ability to lift 50 lbs occasionally.
Ability to climb ladders, stairs or other similar activities.
Ability to wear PPE required by the facilities. More...
