The Naval Nuclear Laboratory comprises the U.S. Department of Energy locations and personnel responsible for developing advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology, providing technical support to ensure the safety and reliability of our nation's naval nuclear reactors, and training the Sailors who operate those reactors in the U.S. Navy's submarines and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory includes the Bettis and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratories, the Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and the Naval Reactors Facility which have proudly supported the nation since 1946. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory has nearly 8,000 employees working at primary locations in Pennsylvania, New York, South Carolina, and Idaho. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory also has an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations around the globe. We are dedicated solely to the support of the United States Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.

Job Description


Would you like to see your ideas for developing a site come to fruition while collaborating with other engineers and architects? NRF is seeking an experienced individual to work in a highly collaborative environment to guide recapitalization of an existing site and also adjacent new site development. You would be responsible to work with the architect to plan future development and collaborate with the utility system owners. You will be doing initial high-level project development (scope, cost, and schedule) and helping guide subsequent detailed project development. These activities will lead to developing the portfolio of facilities and infrastructure projects to meet the NRF mission. The projects must be integrated with the other disciplines and work at NRF. You will assist in getting the projects in NRF's plans and budgets.



Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill


BS degree in civil engineering or Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering related field from an accredited college or university with significant site development experience with excavations, construction of new buildings, and utility systems and a minimum of six years of relevant experience or; MS degree in civil engineering or Master's degree in a science or engineering related field from an accredited college or university with significant site development experience with excavations, construction of new buildings, and utility systems and a minimum of four years of relevant experience or; Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part I qualified or EDO and two years as EOOW in the Nuclear Operations Program or Three years as SRE plus Watch Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and Fuel and Barrier Shift Supervisor (ECF only) or SRE qualified and six years of experience






Preferred Skills


Experience with developing sites with new construction of buildings and utilities.
Experience with recapitalizing sites with existing buildings and utilities.
Experience with contracting construction services, ideally both at NRF and outside of NNL.
Experience with construction project scoping, development, and execution.
Familiarity with site utilities (preferably at NRF) - Domestic Water, Storm Water, Sanitary Sewer, Fire Suppression, Raw Water, Steam & Condensate.

Pay Range


$93,400 - $140,000 Annually

Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
