Ourmore thanseven decades of progressive growth can be attributed to our determination to developinginnovative systems and solutions, exercising environmental stewardshipand enhancing the well-being ofthe communitiesin which we work and live.How will you power what'spossible?Location:Cofer CenterSouthwire Job DescriptionJob Summary/Objective:The Polymer Chemist will be responsible for conducting polymer testing, analysis, and providing accurateand concise reports in support of new product development, cost out efforts, compliance, manufacturingprocess support, and commercial business support.Key Responsibilities* Must be a creative problem solver, with the adaptability to develop novel, but practical testing solutions.* Candidate must be able to read and interpret standards, prepare samples, and perform tests accordingto the prescribed standards.* Assignments will be broad in nature and require considerable judgment, ingenuity, and originality.* Candidate must be physically able to function in a hands-on, detail-oriented, time-constrainedlaboratory environment, with 80% of the time spent on testing to standards.* Manage multiple projects with differing priorities, functioning in support of a market-drivenenvironment.* In this position, interaction with all levels of management and interface with multiple divisions maybe necessary to complete work assignments.* Responsible for preparing, with keen attention to detail, customer focused formal reports as well asprepare and submit UL/CSA data packets for new product listing.* Responsible for maintaining a clean and neat work area through 5S principles.* Responsible for maintaining testing equipment and ensuring testing integrity through routine qualitychecks and record review.Education, Experience, and SkillsRequiredMinimum Education Level: Bachelor'sSpecialized Degree: Chemistry or other science related degreeYears of Experience: 2-5Field of Expertise: Wire and Cable/LabPreferredOtherOther Preferred Skills, Licenses, &Certificates: *Experience with UL/CSA standards *Experience with Wire and Cable Manufacturing processes *Experience with DSC, DMA, FTIR, TGA.
