OverviewStryten Energy is hiring an electrical product engineer for our VRFB engineering team to define, develop, support, and bring innovative and rapidly changing product designs to life and the market. Primary development focus includes the control scheme architecture, platform, and hardware as well as battery performance and application. The individual will support new product designs that drive top line revenue growth as well as projects focused on driving non-value added cost out of the design. As part of the VRFB Engineering group based in Alpharetta, GA, you will work closely with product design and process development engineers on your team as well as Sales, Marketing, Quality, Procurement, and Operations to ensure market and customer expectations are met with each new design. This role is highly visible and impacts the development of Stryten's place in the essential power market as you facilitate, design, spec and guide new understanding in the product design and its application and provide feedback into the downstream manufacturing processes. Apply to learn more about our new projects for the upcoming year where you'll play a key role in our manufacturing plants and other key initiatives.Responsibilities - Design, develop, and support the control schemes of new product architectures in how the interact with itself, the installation site, the application, and others.
- Translate product requirements into product specifications
- Spec, investigate, and source electrical equipment and control hardware to be used within the battery
- Lead and own the understand of electrical standard codes as it relates to long duration energy storage solutions a flow batteries including but not limited to UL listing, IEC, and IEEE codes
- Lead cross functional teams to drive product conceptualization, development, business case creation, and testing to meet the business goals
- Support development process implementation including the development of design standards, dFMEAs, product documentation, and product performance validation
- Ensure the safety and reliability of new products as it relates to the service team, final customer, and product quality
- Understand and isolate critical data outputs of the product and define key indicators of product performance
- Lead and own the control aspects of the product line and provide input into product configuration
- Drive in the development of the battery BMS as it relates to operation of pumps, valves, and other IO within the configuration
- Drive the direction of the battery BMS hardware configuration
- Generate and upkeep proper documentation of the product development cycle
- Help integrate data collection within the control scheme of both product and process
- Foster strong relationship with members of the operations team and vendors
- Develop a personal technical expertise in long duration energy storage solutions
- Continually grow your personal knowledge and technical ability Qualifications
- MS or greater in Electrical Engineering or BS plus 3 years of work experience requiured
- Experience in electrical control design is required
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial facility is preferred
- Strong computer skills including knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel and database software that has helped you track, analyze, form conclusions, and communicate a message throughout your career
- Experience in PLC and industrial control required (Allen Bradley/Rockwell)
- Experience in design and layout of printed circuit boards is a strong plus
- Experience working with power electronics theory and hardware is preferred
- Capability to work with and write scripted programming languages required (Python preferred)
- Knowledge of Six Sigma concepts and tools is a strongly recommended
- Project management skills are encouraged and a willingness to learn is requiredWork environment
- You will work in both office and manufacturing environments. Battery manufacturing employs chemicals, heat, and heavy equipment; and as such you will at times be exposed to acid, fumes, noise, dirt, hazards, and chemicals. In all cases you will be provided with appropriate PPE.
- You must be able to see, hear and speak, able to sit, stand for at least two hours at a time, bend, crawl, squat, kneel, climb, able to use both arms and hands to use a computer and peripherals, lift 40 pounds from floor level, able to work below ground level in confined spaces and on stationary or mobile elevated platforms, able to wear respirator and other personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.Travel
