Housing Office Assistant - Work Study Description The Office of Housing and Residence Life is seeking students who enjoy working with others, possess excellent customer service skills, and are willing to learn. The Housing Office Assistant works in conjunction with other Housing and Residence Life (HRL) team members to provide information, answer questions, and to promote a secure and safe environment for all residents. Office Assistants will work at The Commons Front Desk and will answer phones, emails, and perform daily tasks and projects provided by (HRL) team members. Responsibilities - Function as a resource for accurate information concerning Housing and University operations.
- Support the community office staff by performing assigned administrative responsibilities effectively and efficiently.
- Assist in the opening, closing and transition of residence halls. This may require early arrival and late departures, as well as working during break periods.
- Support, communicate, enforce, and abide by all university department policies, procedures and regulations.
- Follow appropriate protocols in addressing incidents and potential policy violations.
- Participate in all departmental and community training.
- Participate in all meeting activities including, but not limited to staff meetings, community staff meetings, and one-on-one meetings with supervisor.
- Follow appropriate community desk policies and procedures including, but not limited to key management, student check ins/outs, equipment check-out, and guest/visitor check ins/outs.
- Sort, record, distribute and forward mail and packages.
- Assist in maintaining organization of office supplies and materials. May be asked to retrieve and/or count and keep track of inventory.
- Perform other duties consistent with the purpose of the position as assigned. Requirements
- Must be a degree-seeking, work-study funds awarded Life University student with a friendly and cooperative personality and with talents and motivation aligned with essential position functions.
- Positive and friendly attitude.
- Must be extremely accurate, have a flexible schedule, and be able to work both independently and with team.
- Customer service experience and detail oriented.
- Remain in good financial and judicial standing.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better.
- Priority will be given to students whose schedule fit the front desk operation requirements. Physical Demands
